Hope. We are told we need to have hope. We need to have it in order to continue moving forward in our lives. And yet many of us feel we are hopeless. We have no hope. I feel the word hope is over used and under practiced. It is okay to feel hopeless at times. We have all been there in one way or another. 

So what if we use other words instead of hope? Would that help us move out of hopelessness and into hope easier? Would that help change the false positivity around hope? How many times have you felt hopeless and someone comes to you and says, “ Don’t give up hope. Don’t be hopeless. You’ll be alright.” This is false positivity because in the moment you FEEL hopeless and you KNOW you need to process things in order to start moving towards hope again. However, it is a process. It takes time. It takes work. And sometimes it takes just being stuck for the moment. 

So, what about using the words: desire, wish, dream, long, yearn, and crave rather than hope when you or someone you know is feeling hopeless and they want to feel hopeful again? What if? I challenge you to use these words instead of hope and see what happens. Who knows maybe be you will find hope again. Sometimes it means taking the road less traveled to find the dream, the wish, the desire you are yearning for.
