To be numb. To be numb is not to feel anything and yet it is a feeling. How can that be? Being numb is a defense. A self protection mechanism to help protect us from overload. A built in surge protector if you will. To be numb means you are overloaded. You are overwhelmed. You are actually feeling everything all at once. The good stuff, the bad stuff, and the stuff that is in between. So you see being numb is not necessarily a “bad thing.” In fact it is a good thing in times of overload during an overwhelming life situation. However staying numb, being stuck in numbness, is NOT a good thing. Being numb is supposed to be a short lived period, not a life long residency. And this is where the issue of being numb happens. Staying there “forever.”
Something to think about.
Namaste, my friends.
