We hear these two words a lot in our lives. We are being told, “You should be grateful for XYZ.” Or “I am so thankful for ABC.” And yet, how many of us stop and consider what those words mean to us? What does grateful mean to you? Is being grateful something you express to others or keep to yourself? Or both? What does thankful mean to you? Are you thankful you are alive each day? Are you thankful for the things you have in your life even if you do not have “a lot?” How do you show your thankfulness to others and yourself? With the holiday season upon us, I feel now is a good time to consider what these words mean to you. And then ask yourself what am I grateful and thankful for this day, this week, this month, this year, and this life?
And if you cannot answer those questions, now might be a good time to start figuring out the answers to those questions. Because even in the darkest of nights, there are still stars in the sky. You just have to be willing to take the time and energy to go look for the stars.
Namaste, my friends.
