Ever heard the old saying, “You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make them drink.” This is not only true for horses but for humans as well. However the saying should say, “You can lead others to a better life, but you cannot make them choose to make a better life.” The only thing you can do is choose for yourself. You can choose to make a better life. You can choose to not repeat your past. You can choose to learn how to live better. You can choose to make a better life for yourself. And maybe, through your actions of choosing to make a better life for yourself, others will follow in “your footsteps.” And then again maybe not. So, remember, you cannot save others, you can only save yourself. And by saving yourself, you may be able to help support others as they choose to save themselves. And then again maybe not.
