Gratitude means the quality of being thankful and appreciative. It is an emotion. To mean another meaning of gratitude is peaceful, balance, calm. But how many of us say we are grateful and yet our actions do not show the gratitude? How many of us do not believe in being grateful and having gratitude because we are bitter, angry, and resentful? We think gratitude is a bunch of crap. That only “lucky” people are grateful. And yet, we do have a choice when it comes to our emotions. However, many, many people do not know this information. We cannot control our emotions. Anyone who says you can control your emotions is out of control. That is the irony of our emotions. In order to “control” or manage them, we must give up the notion that we can control our emotions. And once we accept that we cannot control our emotions, but only our reactions to emotions, we start to develop gratitude. Because when you release negative emotions you make room for positive emotions. And for that process, I have gratitude.
