Risks are something we all take at one time or another. So what is a calculated risk? What is the difference between a risk and a calculated risk? A risk is something that is taken without an understanding the consequences and rewards. However, a calculated risk is a risk that is taken after careful thought and evaluation of the consequences and rewards. In other words, a risk is something that is taken blindly or with eyes tightly shut. A calculated risk is something that is taking with thought and with eyes wide open. Taking calculated risks takes time, thought, and energy to consider the consequences and rewards. For most people they do not want to take the time, thought, or energy to figure out if a risk is worth taking because that means slowing the process down and delaying gratification. For some, instant gratification is more important than waiting for something that may be better than what was presented in the moment. And I guess in that way, one is either going to take a risk in the moment or take a calculated risk to slow the process down. What will you choose to do? Take a risk or a calculated risk?
Namaste, my friends.
