Deception

What is deception? How does it affect us? Deception means when a person causes another person to believe something that is not true in order gain some sort of person advantage over the other person. Deception is another form of lying. Deception affects us because we are mislead to believe something is true and then we start to develop feelings around the deception. An example  of this may be something like going to a job interview and being told you would be paid “X” amount per hour. You are excited about this amount of money because it is more than you are currently making. You accept the job under the impression that you would be making “X” amount per hour. You start work and find out that you actually make “Y” which is significantly lower than “X.” This puts you on a roller coaster ride of emotions as you struggle to make sense of what has happened. Now, not only are you struggling with emotions from the deception, but you are now struggling to figure out what you are going to do next with this situation.

So, deception is also a form of manipulation as the person who is deceiving another is only out for their personal gain at your expense. So be aware of your gut feelings. If someone presents you with something that “seems too good to be true”……unfortunately it probably is and if you don’t listen to your gut feelings, you will be a victim of their deception.

Namaste, my friends.
